Ken Block Gymkhana Practice Subuness
Posted by ryan as Fun & Games, Inspiring, Racing
Check out this awesome footage of Ken Block practicing for the Gymkhana.
As it says on the site at the beginning of the video, Gymkhana, pronounced jim-kah-nuh is an automotive sport that takes place on an open field or parking lot and requires drivers to skillfully maneuver their cars around a series of cones, slaloms, 180 degree turns, 360 degree turns, figure eight turns or other obstacles using extreme acceleration, braking, and drifting.
Similar to “autocross”, Gymkhana courses are often very complex and memorizing the course is a significant part of achieving a fast time.
Ken wanted to take this concept further and on a larger scale for his practice and testing, and this is the result…
Wow, do I miss my Suby!

Tennis Anyone
Posted by ryan as News, Sports, Tennis
So I’ve been getting into tennis lately. I guess technically you can say that its been awhile, but this past summer I played more than all the years I’ve owned a racket combined. I think there are a few things that have led this to happen, one I am getting older and skating is taking a wear on my body, so playing tennis before skating gets my joints warmed up for the flight outs and all around pops that my legs must take. I can’t help it, I love popping the front side ollies into that bowl. Number two is that I have a few friends that are into tennis as much as I am and want to play. That reason more than anything is probably the most significant because tennis gets a bit boring when no one is hitting the balls back at you.
So, all that said, I just bought a new racket. It is another Head and this one is feeling good. It has a grip more tailored to my hand and just feels good. When I bought my other rackets I had no clue that handle size was an option. Its laughable how little I knew about tennis, and I know enough now to know I have a lot to learn.
Head Titanium Ti.S6
Product Description: A straight beam, head heavy wide body, this ultra-light (8.9oz.) titanium model has more power than the Ti S5 but more control than the now discontinued Ti S7. A lively frame with excellent torsional stability, the Head Titanium Ti S6 will perform best in the hands of players with compact to medium stroke styles seeking an extra large sweet spot (115 head size) that blends a nice balance of power tempered with an open string pattern; ideal for spin artists with an all court game.
