Google Leaving The Censorship Business
Posted by ryan as Interweb, News, Serious Nod, Technology, War on the Internet
I’ve recently read that Google has made the decision to no longer censor google.cn. They also plan to leave the country and kill the domain if needed. That is if they can not operate under China’s conditions and laws. I applaud this as helping any government to censor information is ridiculous for any American company. Read about their decision from Google’s blog.

Welcome home the very awesome Vanguard Current.com & Current TV journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee. Your time in North Korea must have been very difficult to say the least. Please know that your hard work and sacrifice does not go unnoticed and what you have accomplished already with your life is very meaningful and I’m sure has affected many lives. Keep producing quality and informative mini documentaries that bring real issues to light on a global scale. So happy to have you back. Good job former Pres Clinton.

Clean Coal Commercial
Posted by ryan as Advertising, Environment, Humor, News
Have you seen the latest clean coal commercials airing right now? I love the line, clean coal is supported by the coal industry, the most trusted name in coal. Good stuff. The award winning Coen brothers worked on this commercial for The Reality Coalition, which is a project of the Alliance for Climate Protection, Sierra Club, National Wildlife Federation, the Natural Resources Defense Council and the League of Conservation Voters, and tells the truth about coal today — it isn’t clean.
Read the LA Times article Coen brothers’ TV ad ridicules ‘clean coal’ for more on this story.

Doodle To Remember
Posted by ryan as News
I just read about doodling helping people remember. I knew this all along because it was the only way I could take notes in college. I always could remember art history questions based on what I was drawing at the time I heard the answer. I just assumed it was because I was a more visual person. I remember faces, but struggle with names. A trait I am working on. Yahoo’s health page has an article called Take Note: Doodling Can Help Memory that you should read to find out more.
Researchers in the United Kingdom found that test subjects who doodled while listening to a recorded message had a 29 percent better recall of the message’s details than those who didn’t doodle. The findings were published in Applied Cognitive Psychology.

President Awesome
Posted by ryan as Art, Humor, Illustration, News
Here is the beginning of a comic blog that brings to the light the funny romanticism that has accompanied the recently elected President Obama. We all want so badly to have a leader that we can believe in, but seriously people lets get a realistic here. I’ve found this last election very interesting as its the first time I ever saw a politician entering the realm of “cool”. Every artist, musician, trend setter spouting out their love for a man they had no clue about only a few years back. Not to sit back and look at the president with glossy eyed love, Dean Trippe and Evan Bryce have started the blog and comic strip, President Awesome. Its in its infant stage just like the current president’s term so take note, bookmark this site and let the good times roll.

Scary Economic Times
Posted by ryan as News
Growing up I saw documentaries about The Great Depression. Things did not look easy. Now, the wisdom of that generation has passed for the most part. 1929 is an old folk tail of how bad it was, and never how bad it could get, but we are wrong to think this way. History does repeat itself. More often than not by future generations forgetting the lessons of the past’s.

Sony Releases Amazing Product
Posted by ryan as Humor, NSFW, News
I just had to post this one. It is too funny. People do buy into a lot of crap and this one is so on target. I love the quote, I’ll pretty much buy anything in an ad. Not appropriate for a lot of occasions. So much cussing, but if you can handle it this one is very funny. Enjoy.
